Dear Bert and Christy,
Thank you for bringing the MUMSTM program and national conference call-in to our families and their HTC's staff members. I have participated in these calls and found them to be a great source of not only viable information but rather emotionally educating for those of us who have children with a bleeding disorder, but also for those who participate that do not. It is a great wake up call for many, when a topic such as February's "Siblings Living with Hemophilia" brings to light what living in a family with a bleeding disorder can be for the sibling that does not have one. I found Allen to be sincere and honest in his recollection about feeling as if he was a third wheel in times of his brothers bleeds and trips to the hospital, parent's chapter activities and infusions. This is a much overlooked aspect of what our families' experience. Through the call-in, the shared views of what Allen actually accomplished for his family in terms of strength and selflessness were genuinely felt and communicated. This is what it means to care for each other. It does indeed take a village! My hope is that as this young man grows into his adulthood, he can look back and see himself the way we all did on that MUMSTM call, a champion for his brother and parents. I thank you ladies.
Best Regards,
